Overview
Posit (formerly RSudio) is an open-source software tech company that aims to create accessible, open-source software for data science, scientific research, and technical communication. The company's goal is to serve knowledge creators 100 years from now.
Role: Strategy, Art Direction, Brand Foundation, Design Systems(Motion + Illustration), Identity.
Rebrand: RStudio > Posit
I was part of the in-house creative team responsible for re-branding the former company, RStudio, into a new name through a developed brand voice and driving the company to a new future creative direction. We had to balance the company’s purpose to serve as a Certified B Corp that would benefit the public and run for the benefit of all stakeholders, including our community, employees, and customers. We were proud to create and expand this new visual identity to speak directly to the data science community. The entire re-brand project spread over 10 months, with plenty of time for research and fine-tuning.

Challenge:
My challenge is to create a cohesive library of custom illustrations that effectively communicate complex ideas in a simplified yet meaningful manner, resonating across various platforms, including the web, social media, digital products, animation videos, and more.
Approach:
Our illustration system, Posit, is based on the principles of diversity and inclusion. I have created unique, customized illustrations that tell stories and enhance our visual identity. My approach to visual style is to simplify complex ideas and convey them across platforms. This method produces an engaging system that combines technology with a human touch, resulting in a visually impactful and meaningful experience.

The Posit Data Science Hangout is a weekly, live Zoom call for current and aspiring data science leaders.

We took the existing Posit branding to the next level for a new set of graphic packages that can be repeated and edited in a real-time turnaround. We had a blast brainstorming how to spice up this new branding element. We brainstormed what would make it unique and aesthetically pleasing for the data science audience. We aimed to make it timeless, exciting, and fun by incorporating motion and SFX.
